5 Mouthwatering Camping Desserts
Tired of having plain old s’mores for dessert when camping? Here are some mouthwatering camping desserts you’ll want to try on your next trip.
Campfire Cones
Ingredients
- Chopped fruit, any kind you want
- Mini-marshmallows
- Chocolate chips
- Waffle ice-cream cones
- Tin foil
Directions
First chop fruit into smaller, more manageable bits. Then mix all the ingredients together into a bowl. Next, wrap the cones in foil and stuff your mixture into the cones. Fold the foil over the top and lay them over the fire, once the coals have turned grey. Rotate the campfire cones a couple of times. In about 5–7 minutes they will be ready to eat — with a spoon, or like ice cream.
Grilled Chocolate Banana Melt
Ingredients
- 1 banana, peeled
- 2 tablespoons miniature marshmallows
- 2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, slightly crushed
Directions
First preheat grill to medium-high heat. Then slice the banana lengthwise and slightly open. Place on a rectangle of aluminum foil and insert marshmallows and chocolate chips into the opening. Wrap the banana up in foil and cook on the grill for 5–6 minutes. After grilling, top with cereal.
Campfire Éclairs
Ingredients
- Refrigerated crescent rolls
- Snack pack pudding
- Chocolate frosting
- Spray whipped cream
- 5/8″ wooden dowels
Directions
Take a wooden dowel and coat the cooking end with oil. Wrap a crescent roll around the top and about 4″ down the dowel. Make sure it’s not too thick and doesn’t have any holes. Cook over hot coals until golden brown, not doughy. Remove from the dowel and put your favourite flavour of pudding inside. Frost the top and add whipped cream.
Barbecued Apple Crisps
Ingredients
- ½ cup old-fashioned oats
- 6 tbsp flour
- 3 tbsp packed brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- Dash of nutmeg
- 2 tbsp butter, plus more for foil
- 3 apples
- Lemon juice
Directions
Pre-heat the grill to medium heat. Combine oats, flour, sugars, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir in butter until the mixture is crumbly. Put the bowl in the fridge while you prepare the apples. Wash apples and pat dry. Core and slice the apples, then toss them with a squeeze of lemon juice. Cut two squares of foil (about a foot each) and lightly butter the centre of each piece. Place the apples on one of the foil pieces and then add the crumble mixture. Place the second square on top and fold the pack closed. Grill for about 20 minutes. Let cool a minute or two before opening, as the contents will be very hot. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dash of cinnamon.
